Women’s activewear with pockets, and the athleisure that grew out of it. High-waisted leggings and yoga pants in compression, buttery, flare and hiking cuts. Biker shorts, capris and running shorts. Tennis and golf dresses with the shorts and the bra sewn in, and skorts. Sports bras and tanks. Fleece-lined leggings, joggers and snow pants for the cold. Rash guards and swim shorts rated UPF 50+. Pull-on dress pants and stretch jeans for the office. A maternity line. And a girls’ and boys’ corner with the yoga mat and props beside it. Eight shelves in all.

Three things you can check on the card. The pockets are real, two on the thighs deep enough for a phone and on most pairs a third in the waistband, and the count is printed as a number. The waistband is wide, high-rise and smooth at the front, so it sits at the natural waist and does not roll on a squat. And the size run reaches 3XL on most styles, with the fiber content and the inseam printed where we hold them, so a buyer with a tape measure can decide before she orders.

The trade is the cloth. A twenty-dollar nylon-spandex legging does not feel like a hundred-dollar one from a studio brand, and the card says so instead of pretending.

A woman whose day has a run, a class or a match in it and then keeps going: to a desk, to a school gate, to a shop. The compression pairs and the biker shorts are cut for the sweat. Since 2018, which is 8 years of the same three questions: does the phone stay put, does the waist stay up, and can you sit down in it. The useful part of that is not the anniversary but the consequence.
